A huge attraction of the popular iPhone 5 and other iOS devices is the massive selection of super apps that are available from the Apple App Store. One of the most popular currently available in Instagram, a clever blend of social networking and photo editing software. A new update for the great service has just been released that enables users to upload and share short video clips for the very first time.iphone 5

There are two reasons why Instagram is a massively popular service. The first is because it allows the simple sharing of images with other users within your community and the second is because there are some super effect on board that can transform the look of your photographs. A couple of years ago the company was purchased by Facebook and they have now revealed some extraordinary figures about uploads following the recent update which introduced video sharing facilities. In the first 24 hours following the release of the update a massive 5 million short video clips were posted on the service. Instagram limits video clips to 15 seconds in length but this did not stop a massive 40 hours of footage per minute being uploaded during peaks times following the new updates introduction.

It seems as though this latest update for the popular iPhone 5 application was released in response to the arrival of a new video sharing application This service is named Vine and is developed by Twitter, Facebook’s number one rival. Vine enjoyed an extraordinary level of success in the weeks following its release and it is believed that Instagrams latest update is to attempt to cash in on the current popularity for uploading video content. In the long run we may see Instagram outshine the newcomer as the service currently has 130 million regular users, all of whom have instant access to the new video sharing facilities. Some user however have complained that the addition of video files spoils the previously enjoyable service that was delivered. Pages now pause as the video quickly loads while the noisy audio on many of the clips is seen as an annoyance. Check the update out for yourself now on both iOS and for Android devices such as the HTC One.

Instagram on the iPhone 5 is one of the most popular applications around and we fully expect the new video posting function to be a success despite some complaints that its inclusion has somewhat spoiled what was previously a peaceful and smooth photo viewing experience.
